Kraft Jet-Puffed Jumbo Peppermint Mallow

Posted in Confectionaries

Evening snack food lovers! Has anyone ever used an entire bag of marshmallows before (with the exception of making Rice Crispy Treats)? There are only so many uses for marshmallows before the bag goes a bit stale and its time to toss it out. But apparently, nobody told this to Kraft. This bag of peppermint marshmallows could double as a pillow for a child. IT’S HUGE. A delicious minty smelling plastic covered pillow.

The actual size of the mallows themselves are no joke. Check out that picture! I can only fit 5 total in my hand. And honestly, its 4 more than I would want to eat in one sitting. I really love marshmallows, but there is something about them that only allows me to eat a couple before I feel absolutely gross. They also make my teeth feel like they have sweaters on them.

One of these marshmallows would be sufficient in a cup of hot chocolate, which to me, kind of takes the fun out of the whole thing. Aside from the fact that these were hit with some sort of Willy Wonka-esque size contorting contraption, the flavor is okay. The peppermint flavoring is really subtle, making the marshmallow taste cold vs. having actual mint flavoring to it. I liked them, but again, I could only eat 2 MAX in one sitting (or standing I guess)

Texture: 4/5 – These have the texture of any other marshmallow you have ever tried (with the exception of Peeps, those are a little different). They are somewhat dense but still spongy.
Smell: 5/5 – These are rather fragrant despite their lack of real peppermint punch in the taste department.
Appearance: 2.5/5 – I’m not too sure what they were trying to go for with the appearance of these. I guess it was supposed to be some sort of candy cane swirl type deal? Ehhhhh… not so much guys.
Taste: 3.5/5 – These mallows are okay. They would be best served along side some hot chocolate, but for a peppermint treat? I would pass. The bag suggests toasting them and putting them between two sugar cookies or dipping them in candy chocolate, both of these sound rather good, but also sound like way too much work. Next year I really hope they hit these slightly with the shrink ray so that I can plop a huge handful into my mug instead of one lonely island.

Kraft Jet Puffed Marshmallows – Pumpkin Spice

Posted in Confectionaries

Hello friends! First I must apologize for my unannounced absence yesterday. I drove home super early from my moms house and went immediately to a photoshoot. By the time I got home, uploaded the pictures to my computer, started resizing and post processing I was beat. I laid down for what felt like just a minute but I was out cold. SO! To make up for leaving you guys hangin’ I have two reviews for you tonight!

I bet you thought since Halloween and Thanksgiving were over, that would be the last of pumpkin spice _________. WRONG. I spotted these Pumpkin Spice Marshmallows at Walmart and decided to give them a go.

Kraft has really tried to up the ante on their marshmallow game with the introduction of flavors like German chocolate cake, coconut, mint chocolate, etc. I can’t say that all of these incarnations have been successful, but I commend Kraft for trying something different. I am a lover of most things pumpkin spice, so I was excited to try these out. When I opened the bag I was greeted with the overly sweet marshmallow smell mixed with a slight tinge of nutmeg and cinnamon. To get festive, they made them into tiny pumpkin shapes, which kind of looked a little wonky. I popped a few in my mouth and was slightly underwhelmed by the lack of bold pumpkin spice flavoring. The taste of the mallow really watered down the festive spices.

Texture: 3/5 – These had the expected sponginess of a normal marshmallow.

Smell: 3/5 – These smell mildly festive, but for the most part it’s just the powdered sugar punching though.

Appearance: 3/5 – I appreciate what Kraft was trying to do with the pumpkin shape, but I feel like the normal cylinder shape would have sufficed, these pumpkins are a little sad looking.

Taste: 3/5 – Of the pumpkin spice flavored things I have tried, these would rank in the B category. They are good, but they are not overly exciting. The pumpkin spices are not nearly as prevalent as one would expect. I am also curious what their purpose is outside of being a snack. Could you toast these? That might be weird.
