Stacy’s Pita Chips – Garden Vegetable Medley

It’s no secret that I have a love affair with Stacy’s pita chips. So far every flavor that I have tried, I have throughly enjoyed. Honestly I’m convinced that they could make cat food flavored pita chips and I would like them. Just kidding, that’s really sick. Today I spent the majority of the day curled up with my snack food parter in crimes cat and watching Netflix. Rough way to spend a rainy day, I know.

One advantage of being a junk food blogger is that there is never a shortage of delicious snacks to partake in when the mood strikes you. I had a hankering for something crunchy and remembered that I had these tucked away on a bottom shelf.


One of my absolute favorite thing about Stacy’s Pita Chips are that they bake the flavoring into the chip itself. I feel like a lot of other chip makers could take note of this as it tends to make the chip taste better, in my experience. The garden vegetable medley is a mixture of herb, tomato, and onion. Not exactly an entire garden in there and with a non-descript term like herb, I was curious if these would taste like a salad or some sort of Italian dish. Curious as to what herb was, I did a little investigating in the ingredients and found that it is thyme and rosemary (shouldn’t it be herbs?) Anywho, I really like rosemary and thyme so I let it slide. Sadly I’m pretty sure that someone drop kicked my bag of pita chips because upon opening it was nothing but chip shards, damn you SaveMart! The most apparent flavor in these chips are the herbs, followed closely by the tomato. These definitely have an Italian flavor to them, and they are really good (as expected). I did not pick up the onion until the very end and even then I thought it was rather faint. I think the only thing that I would change about these would be to add just a hint of garlic.


Texture: 4/5 – Stacy’s Pita Chips are twice baked, so they are always exceptionally crunchy (sometimes too crunchy)

Smell: 2/5 – Despite the normally pungent herbs used and the onion, the only smell I could pick up was of the pita bread itself. Weird.

Appearance : 3/5 – Most of the ingredients are visible when inspecting the chips, especially the herbs.

Taste: 4/5 – These pita chips are really good. The flavor does not linger on your mouth, which makes it easy to eat lots of these without realizing that you have consumed 2/3 of the bag. I also imagine that these would taste good slightly heated up with a small side of marinara. Note to self: buy marinara. I would definitely buy these again and would love for Stacy’s to sell actual pitas for sandwiches. Yum!

Limited Edition Stacy’s Pita Chips – Simply Gingerbread

Dear Internet, I signed up for Netflix today. I know what you’re thinking – even your grandma has Netflix. I’ve been pretty resistant because I don’t consider myself a tv and movie kinda gal, but then I got addicted to Grey’s Anatomy on Hulu Plus and it was all downhill from there. I intended to work on blog stuff for a solid few hours today, but my day was spent watching movies I don’t care to admit.

So! On with the review – let me just say, I told you so! Gingerbread is where it is at this year. While taking a cat nap yesterday after work, these appeared on the pillow next to me, courtesy of the snack food fairy.

It’s no secret that I love pita chips and that I love gingerbread. The combo of the two sounds like a match made in heaven.


The snack food fairy was kind enough to tell me that these were procured at Target. Foodies of the world, Target is going a planogram reset in consumables as well as setting their seasonal sections, which means be on the look out for new products in the next few weeks. Sometimes it takes a while for vendors like Nabisco, Keebler, and Pepperidge Farms to get their product into stores, so if your store doesn’t have it yet, don’t lose hope!

Upon opening the bag I was expected to be greeted with the pungent aroma of gingerbread, but I pretty much had to bury my face in the bag to smell anything at all.

The chips looked similar in color to rye chips found in Chex Mix or Gardettos and had visible sugar crystals covering the chip. I sadly can’t say that I was head over heels for these chips, but they are decent. Stacy’s twice bakes their chips and sadly I feel like this round by doing that with a dense flavor like gingerbread, it made them taste borderline burnt. I feel like these would be especially good if I had something to dip them in. Maybe those non lactose intolerant people of the world could opt for some cream cheese? That sounds like it could be good.


Texture: 3/5 – These have the familiar crunch of a pita chip. I think they are a little thicker due to the gingerbread so I wouldn’t advise eating these with a loose crown.

Smell: 4/5 – The chips in the bag have virtually no smell at all. Smelling them up close and personal reminded me of the gingerbread ornaments we used to make in grade school. Sweet, spicy, warm, everything you think of when you think of winter.

Appearance: 3/5 – I can’t say this is the most visually appealing chip I’ve tasted. You can see the sugar crystals on the outside of the chip with nice striations of cinnamon throughout the chip.

Taste: 3.75/5 – I know that’s kind of a half assed rating but that’s kind of how I feel. These are good, but they are not irresistible. I enjoy them as a nice change of pace as a sweet crunchy chip vs the normal salty snack.

Stacy’s Pita Chips – Italian Harvest

Happy Friday all! I am not overly sure if these are new, or if I have never seen them before, but I spotted these and another flavor I shall be reviewing soon at the local SaveMart. (Upon quick googling, it looks like they came out in 2010, but I have not seen them until now) I am head over heels for Stacy’s Pita Chips. They are so delicious by themselves or with some sort of dip, and I can easily eat an entire bag and not feel bad about it. I also had no interest in sharing these with anyone else, so you may want to buy two bags incase you have someone at home that would like to sample them as well.

Upon opening the bag I was greeted with the familiar pita chip smell accompanied by the aroma of peppers. I am definitely a fan of flavors being baked into chips instead of coating them. I did not however notice much onion flavoring as pictured on the outside of the bag. The flavoring of these is rather strong, especially the peppers. I really enjoyed these and had to stop myself from eating the entire bag. All of the chips in the bag were evenly flavored which is also very enjoyable.


Texture: 4/5 – If you have brittle teeth you may want to avoid these, because they are twice baked they tend to be on the extreme crunchy side. I would also advise enjoying these with a beverage if you are eating them alone, as they can be a bit dry.

Smell: 4/5 – These smell just as tasty as they are right out of the bag.

Appearance: 3/5 – I am unsure if perhaps the merchandiser at the store I purchased them from kicked them down the entire aisle before putting them on the shelf, but sadly most of my bag was made up of tiny chip-shards. There were a few large ones, but mostly small little handfuls of pita bits. It is also exceptionally obvious that the flavor is baked in – YUM.

Taste: 5/5 – These are good. REALLY good. If you are looking for a hardy chip to put out at a party that you can get some serious dip action on, I would suggest these. BUY THEM.
